On and Off the Wall
The Tracking series, begun in March 2020, is a response to the coronavirus pandemic with references to Dr. John Snow’s map of the cholera epidemic in London in 1854. Curators discuss the Tracking series in Art Beyond Quarantine.
This work is concerned with mapping, memory, and urban architecture, both contemporary and ancient. Street grids, skylines, differing perspectives, and a network of shadows are all part of these paper, and sometimes, string, and canvas constructions. Many pieces refer to American Empire.
