Shadowland/Map as Art
The structure of cities and the structure of the mind are conflated in these paper constructions. Plans of ancient ruins and contemporary city grids are layered and edited. The process of repeating, adding, and subtracting invokes memory and absence. Shadows are integral to these constructions.
Some of these paper constructions were shown in Shadowland, a solo show at the Christopher Henry Gallery in New York in 2011 and then at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City inThe Map as Art in 2012-2013.
